An Oasis in the bush

Nestled on the side of a hill in amongst beautiful native bush and with an amazing view of the valley below, this was a truly special and unique project.

With a central courtyard to anchor the buildings to the hill, the main studio juts out from the steep slope and into the surrounding bush. A garage and retaining walls constructed with Hawkes Bay White concrete blocks contrast beautifully with the dark stained cedar and larch cladding.

Southern Maple Beech flooring and window frames lend a lovely warmth to the interior.

 A cosy little showstopper

Beautiful ashin timber ceilings, Shou Sugi Bahn cladding, Firth devonstone walls, extensive tiling and best of all…a sunken lounge!

The client’s exceptional eye for design makes for an unforgettable interior.
